As we enter 2021 - I reflect on my past 26 years in this industry, 20 years as a salon owner and 12 years of being in this location. WOW what a journey, somedays were a beautiful mess but most days, simply beautiful!
I want to take a moment to express my gratitude. Gratitude to the beautiful souls, that I am blessed to work with, the amazing clients that I call friends & family and the people in my inner circle that love me unconditionally. I've spent over half of my life - building this business & it honestly is my dream (since I was a little girl, for as long as I can remember). Over the past 10 years I've spent a lot of time, on my own personal growth and well-being, searching for natural ways to harness and heal things like anxiety, stress & seasonal affective disorder. This led me to learn & practice Reiki (energy healing), become a Reiki Master/Teacher, study Essential Oils & Aromatherapy, get Ordained and become a Certified Oola Life Coach. And I will continue to learn and grow, with every opportunity the crosses my path. The past year was my greatest teacher, I learned to find GRATITUDE in each day - including the difficult days, I learned to find balance & strive everyday to become better and I learned that I have an incredible passion to help others. I also learned that while some consider my career non essential, helping people is very much essential. I will never allow myself to be told that I am non essential again. My passion in life is to help others and to SERVE. 2021 is the year that I better SERVE by bringing into focus, a holistic approach to wellness. While I have no intentions of leaving my salon & spa business I will be adjusting time on my schedule, to better serve those in search of living better in their wellness. If you're curious about the new services that I'm providing - let's talk. Our whole body wellness is so important - mind, body & spirit. We choose the life we want - a life of less stress, taking a little more time to relax, simply living a clean life and ditching some of the daily toxins, and sometimes we just need a little help getting through the tough stuff. Whatever is making you feel unbalanced - I am here to SERVE, and to help you unlock the greatness within you. Love & Light Mandy

Reiki for Generalized Anxiety Disorder Generalized anxiety disorder is a potentially debilitating condition that affects millions of people all across the globe. In fact, according to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, generalized anxiety disorder currently affects 3.1 percent of the U.S. population. Treatments for generalized anxiety disorder vary but often include medication and psychotherapy. Some people struggling with this condition have also added Reiki to their treatment plan in hopes of improving symptoms further. Facts about Generalized Anxiety Disorder People with generalized anxiety disorder deal with excessive and unrealistic worry about everyday issues, including their family, health or financial situation. This worry is persistent and difficult to control. In many cases, people with this condition feel a sense of impending doom even when there is no reason to believe that something bad will happen. For most people, this disorder appears gradually over time. It is more common in women than in men and tends to peak after childhood. While many people are able to manage their symptoms and lead a relatively normal life, severe anxiety can sometimes make it difficult to carry out everyday responsibilities or function in social situations. An individual is diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder after he or she has spent at least six months dealing with symptoms on a regular basis. Some of the specific symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder may include: • Trouble sleeping • Tense muscles • Irritability • Tiring easily • Feeling restless or on edge • Trouble concentrating Once an individual has been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, their physician may prescribe various medications to control symptoms, including tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines, serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Physicians may also recommend different types of therapy, including interpersonal therapy, exposure therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. About Reiki Reiki is a therapeutic technique that developed in Japan. The idea behind this technique is that, generally, problems and issues within the human body, including unnatural levels of anxiety, may be related to blockages or disturbances in the individual’s energy pathways. Reiki seeks to unblock energy and restore normal flow in order to support the body’s ability to heal itself. During a Reiki session, a trained practitioner will place his or her hands gently on or over the client. The practitioner will repeat this process multiple times using specific hand positions. Session lengths vary based on the needs of the client. What is Reiki? It’s a commonly asked question with an answer that is both simple and complex. In short, Reiki is a technique to promote relaxation and reduce stress. It originated or, more correctly, was rediscovered in Japan, but now has become popular in Western countries and throughout the world. Learning all about Reiki will give you insight into this form of healing, which involves life force energy and is connected to a Higher Power and the transcendental energy that flows through all people. What Reiki Practitioners Do Reiki practitioners draw on this higher energy, which flows into them and out through their hands, into the person they are working with to assist in healing. Reiki is spiritual in nature and also scientific in nature. Medicine and science recognize that the human body is made of energy and that blockages in this energy create discomfort or disease. Helping to free blocked energy, reducing stress, and providing relaxation are a few of Reiki’s characteristics. This helps to create an environment in the body that fosters healing and wellbeing. All About Reiki Treatments A Reiki treatment generally lasts between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on the specific needs of the client. Some practitioners place their hands on their clients, while others keep their hands near but not touching the body. Clients remain fully clothed, and may lie down, sit, or even stand. Each person experiences Reiki differently, but many clients feel a deep sense of relaxation, along with a loss of tension, fear, and anxiety. Some people fall asleep during the treatment, while others report floating outside their bodies or having visions or related experiences. After the Reiki Session People also generally feel very refreshed when their Reiki session is over, and they have an outlook that is more balanced and positive than before they came to see the Reiki practitioner. Reiki can have an effect on all types of negative conditions and illnesses, from small problems like headaches to larger concerns such as cancer, reducing anxiety and assisting with the side effects of treatments. Reiki Benefits While Reiki cannot guarantee miracles or any specific level of healing, it is always beneficial and may reduce depression, pain, and stress. Some people have experienced complete healing from Reiki, anecdotal stories abound, while others have seen lesser but still significant improvement in their condition. Anyone can be treated with Reiki, and enjoy the benefits from it. **This article appeared in The Reiki Times, the official magazine of the International Association of Reiki Professionals. |
